SUPER POLE FOR COSTA AT ADRIA IN THE X30 ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND.

Sauber Karting Team driver made his first wet track race in the X30Junior category and continues to evolve competing against more experienced drivers

One of the rising stars of Brazilian karting in Europe, Miguel Costa started from pole position in one of the Italian Kart events last weekend in Adria. The 11-year-old Sauber Karting Team driver competes in the X30 Junior category, which has the majority of competitors between 12 and 14 years old. Miguel showed a lot of speed at the weekend, got the best lap in one race and was still the fastest in the warmup before the final on Sunday.

“I started the weekend very well, always very fast in pratice. We still need to adjust the qualifying, they ended up blocking me in the last sector of my best lap and that made me start in the middle of the grid. I managed to win four positions in the first race and nine places in the second, closing in seventh after starting 16th in the second race on Saturday ”, says Miguel, who uses the Kart Republic chassis and is supported by Baked Potato and Participates.

After standing out with good recoveries on the first day of heats, Miguel returned to riding well on Sunday, when he made his first race under the rain in the X30 Junior category.

“We had great potential on Sunday because we led the warmup and in the first race we finished eighth, which gave me pole with the grid reversed for the second race of the day. Because of the cold and the wet track, I had to adapt quickly and I think we managed to make a good evolution for my transition year debuting at Junior ”, says Miguel, who closed three of the four races in the top-10 among the 43 drivers of the round. With that, he moved up to fifth place in the championship.

The last stage of the Italian Karting Championship will take place between the 23rd and 25th of October in Castelletto, Italy.
